The history and journey of Allamano Special School
History of the School
Founding
Allamano Special School was established in March 1988 as a specialized division within Wamagana Primary School, dedicated to providing education for children with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Independence
The school transitioned into its own separate and independent institution, gaining autonomy to better serve the unique needs of its students with dedicated facilities and specialized programs.
Friends of Allamano Founded
The Friends of Allamano association was established to foster awareness about mental disabilities and provide financial assistance and volunteer opportunities to support the school.
Youth for Allamano Launched
Youth For Allamano was launched on 17th February 2024, targeting individuals aged 22 to 44 to sustain and further the school's mission by engaging the next generation.
Growing & Thriving
Today, Allamano Special School serves 100 students (48 boys and 52 girls) with a dedicated team of teachers, therapists, and support staff committed to empowering every child.

A Community of Support
Throughout our history, Allamano Special School has been blessed with generous support from well-wishers, both through financial contributions and by helping to build classrooms for the children.
Our community of supporters, including the Friends of Allamano and Youth for Allamano, continues to grow, ensuring that every child at our school has access to quality education and care.
Together, we are building a future where every child, regardless of their abilities, can thrive and reach their full potential.
